Camilla’s experience as a Global Graduate

Not sure exactly which job position you want after college? Are you passionate about marketing and branding and want to work in a large international organization? If you are ready to take on a challenge – look no further! Apply for the BAT Global Graduate Program to kickstart your career right after graduation. You will be responsible for your own projects from the start, work in a young, dynamic and social organization and receive a great compensation scheme and benefits (bye bye SU life!). If you have the motivation, we are ready with the challenges.

I speak from experience: My name is Camilla and I work as a Marketing Executive at British American Tobacco. My journey in BAT began in September 2016 when I  started the Global Graduate Program right after completing my studies at Copenhagen Business School. I have a Bachelor’s in Intercultural Marketing Communication and a Master’s in Business Administration and Organizational Communication (also known as Cand.merc.komm). It is therefore not a prerequisite to have a hard core economic/math background to be accepted into the program 😊During the Global Graduate Program I did 3 rotations in Marketing in various departments: Brand, Trade Marketing and Strategy, Planning & Insights. Through these rotations I got a holistic view of the organization and I was able to bridge the learnings from university to real work challenges in a seamless way. It was a very rewarding experience to utilize the skills and knowledge that I achieved through my education in “real life”. I could not have had a better start to corporate life!

In my time at BAT I have worked with all aspects within marketing: consumer insights, product innovation, branding, packaging, pricing, trade activation and sales. Your time in various functions working on multiple marketing related projects will develop your project management skills tremendously.

Through the Global Graduate Program I experienced a very steep learning curve and therefore very fast development that is only possible to achieve through the rotations and facing different challenges. I was supported throughout the program with mentors and coaches to ensure feedback and development opportunities. BAT encourages a culture of feedback and coaching and also use a lot of resources on providing training for their employees.

Together with the other Graduates from Denmark and Graduates from all over the world, I attended a 2 week training in the UK. The BAT Academy training will give you a thorough understanding of BAT as a global organization. You also have the great opportunity to network with ambitious young people from all over the world.

To sum up: You will work with Global Brands in a truly international organization. You will be challenged but your team is ready to support and help. You will have a lot of fun while completing big cross functional projects and putting your skills and education to good use. Join the BAT family – You will not be bored 😎
